£20m Commercial Property Development of Phase 5 at the Quays to include M&S

Luke Curran & Co. solicitors have been delighted to advise Parker Green who are well underway in constructing Phase 5 commercial property development at their flagship Quays Shopping Centre, Newry. The £20m extension will create 100,000 sqft of additional retail space will host some of the UK’s most prestigious retail brands including Marks and Spencer's (M&S). Luke Curran & Co. provided complex legal advice on a wide range of legal issues in relation to the commercial property development to include construction, commercial lease, property, planning and licensing.

Commenting on the development, Parker Green’s Managing Director,  Dr Gerard O’Hare said, “I am delighted that works have now commenced on Phase 5, immediately creating 200 construction jobs and a further 300 full and part-time positions in retail in the months ahead. This project demonstrates that both The Quays and Newry remain at the premiership level of retail demand and ultimately this major investment will help secure the commercial vitality of Newry City Centre and the greater NEWRY region”.

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to open later this year.

Currently located in Buttercrane Shopping Centre, the M&S Newry store will relocate to newly built premises opposite the existing Quays Shopping Centre.  The new 30,000 sq. ft. store will offer customers quality M&S clothing and homeware, with a Foodhall that stocks over 5,000 food and drink products.
