Cross Border Property Transactions

Published on: 25 August 2017

We regularly act for clients on one side of the border who wish to acquire a property, such as a domestic dwelling, a farm or commercial property on the other side of the border. Frequently we act for clients who offer property on one side of the border as security to a lender in order to finance a purchase on the other side of the border. This might involve an equity release of property located in Northern Ireland, the proceeds of which are used to acquire a property in the Republic of Ireland or vice versa. M

We have just completed the acquisition of commercial property in both the North of Ireland and Republic of Ireland for our client company BAK Bulk Services who operate in both jurisdictions under limited companies respectively registered.   We were able to provide complex advice on Cross Border Property Transactions to include property and company law for both companies.  We assisted in raising finance from lenders to facilitate both transactions.  We were able to undertake all elements of such a transaction, thus avoiding the necessity for our clients to retain two separate firms of solicitors on each side of the border.
